A former English captain and superstar soccer player, David Beckham, appeared in a promotional video for the FIFA WC 2022. This video from July saw Beckham talk about his career and some ups and downs he faced. The video also featured a former English player and assistant manager, Gary Neville. Both ex-players discussed their experience with the ‘Three Lions’ and moments from the World Cup.

Gary Neville, while remembering a young Beckham, said, “I always remember you saying when you were younger – ‘England will retire me, I won’t retire from England. I adopted the same stance off the back of that because I agree with you… I don’t believe it’s a player’s right to retire – you either get picked or you don’t get picked. And if they want you, you go and play.

Both Beckham and Neville played together for England from 1996 to 2007. The ex-Manchester United players shared many moments from the field, like the red card Beckham got against Argentina. They also talked about the retirement of players and made many noteworthy statements.

David Beckham never wanted to retire from International Football

While remembering his retirement, David Beckham said, “There was never one moment where I thought I don’t want to do this. You know, I’m gonna step down playing for my country. I used to say it to my dad that I never want to retire from international football if I don’t get picked again. I don’t get picked again, but I never want to be one of those players that steps down from playing and representing my country.”
