The soccer fraternity made comparisons between Arsenal and Manchester City ever since Mikel Arteta became the Gunners’ manager. Notably, Arteta has tried to replicate the success of his former employers with his tactics. However, his star player, Oleksandr Zinchenko, feels there is so much the club can learn from his former club, Manchester City.

The Arsenal fans remember the last season when the Sky Blues took advantage of their shoddy form to win the Premier League title at the death. However, their fans hope for a different outcome this year.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola once said creating something fresh remains troublesome. To make it and build it and get everyone to follow? Outstanding! It is a legacy the Premier League giants have created over the years. A former player of the club, Oleksandr Zinchenko, wants his current club Arsenal to follow the same. In an interview, he said, “City has built this machine for a couple of years and it was with the same players. We (Arsenal) are on the right path. I’m not saying we’re trying to copy City, but they are the best team in the world and you always need to learn from the best.”

There is no doubt that the Gunners have tried to create a parallel project with Mikel Arteta. After bringing him as the manager, the owners have spent loads of wealth in the transfer window to enhance the team. They have given the Spanish manager a free hand at times. It has worked to some extent. Before he arrived, there were times when fans were frustrated with the defensive style. However, under Arteta, they have returned to their preferred attacking style and won three trophies under the Spanish manager.

It will be fascinating to witness whether this season can be the one for Oleksandr Zinchenko and his teammates. As far as Manchester City is concerned, a United legend has backed them in the title race.

At the moment, Liverpool is at the top of the league table with 48 points. On the other side, the Sky Blues and Arsenal are second and third respectively, with both on 43 points. However, Pep Guardiola’s side has played one game less than the Gunners. Despite the five-point gap, Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester City will retain the title like the last season.

He has also pointed out that the experience of a manager like Pep Guardiola will help them overcome the pressure during the closing stages of the title challenge. Ferdinand praised the talent of the City squad that has proved themselves season after season.
