They went into the playoffs for the second available spot for the promotion to League Two from the National League. Meanwhile, their journey ended in the semifinal of the playoffs as they went down to Grimsby Town in front of their new owner and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.

However, Sam Dalby scored in the 80th minute to give a comfortable lead to Wrexham. Elliot Lee rounded off the dominant 3-0 victory with another goal in the added time.
