Cristiano Ronaldo is embraced as a revered figure in the soccer world. Only a few people had the honor of not just meeting him, but also sharing a locker room with the living icon. In an exclusive tale, a 32-year-old star, now a fierce opponent, goes on a trip down memory lane, recalling his time with Ronaldo at Real Madrid, insisting CR7 has ‘a personality with international fame from all sides‘.

Ronaldo exudes a distinct aura both on and off the field, and Rodrigo Moreno also seems to be wonderstruck by it. In a recent interview, the Al-Rayyan star said that Cristiano Ronaldo has etched a great history in the soccer world and insists the Portuguese superstar is admired, not just by fanatics of the beautiful game, as his personality transcends beyond the sport. I think he is an outstanding athlete, a personality with international fame from all sides,” said Moreno.

He continued, “We didn’t have a friendship, of course. I was training with the first team at the time and in the few moments that I had the opportunity to meet him, he was always a very nice person, very respectful, despite being a great figure in the world of football. On a personal level, I think he deserves everything. What he achieved, both personally and professionally, is because he is a good person.” Notably, Moreno signed for Real Madrid Castilla in 2009 from Celta Vigo’s youth setup. However, he left Los Blancos without even making a single appearance in the senior team alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

Moreno signed for Benfica and then he enjoyed many loan spells back and forth with the English side Bolton and Madrid’s rival Valencia. In 2020, he was captured by Leeds but left in the last summer transfer window to sign for Qatari Stars League side Al-Rayyan. Either way, this is some heartfelt praise from Moreno for CR7. Interestingly, even Ronaldo’s teammates are awestruck by him.

One take at a time

I first kicked a soccer ball when I was 12. My early exposure to playing the sport earned me many accolades at the zonal and district levels. I still remember my first goal, where I scored a 90+5 minute header like Sergio Ramos did in the 2014 Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
