With the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, Wrexham has turned its focus to other endeavors. The Welsh club is gearing up its Wrexham Red Dragons for The Soccer Tournament (TST), fielding its men’s and women’s teams for the highly anticipated event. With just a few days until kick-off, they have released the groups, and we are set for a Hollywood showdown as Ryan Reynolds’ women’s side will be locking horns against Natalie Portman’s Angel City.

Along with Wrexham Red Dragons and Angel City are the US Women and Streetball Canada in Group A. The Welsh-based women’s team will start their tournament campaign against Angel City at 12:30 p.m. EST on Friday, June 7th, followed by a match against Streetball Canada at 9:30 p.m. EST the same day. Their last group stage match will happen at 8 p.m. EST the following day against the US Women’s team.

Speaking more on the opponents, while Angel City represents the National Women’s Soccer League, established in 2020, Streetball Canada showcases talents from the World Cup campaign. Additionally, the US Women’s team is participating in the competition for the second consecutive year. Despite the men’s tournament expanding to a 48-team bracket, the Women’s TST tournament comprises only eight teams divided into two groups of four.

It will take place at WakeMed Soccer Park from June 5-10. Notably, per the club’s official website, the participation of the women’s team has been possible due to heavy monetary backing from Ally Financial. Rest assured, just like the men’s side, the ladies will also be looking to take the million-dollar prize at home. While the men’s team looks sorted, which players Reynolds and Co. have selected for the women’s team?

Which big names are representing Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham Red Dragons in the Women’s TST tournament?

Seven players who have helped fire Wrexham AFC Women to third place in the Welsh top flight this season will travel to North Carolina alongside manager Steve Dale. The names include Wrexham Women’s top goalscorer Rosie Hughes, midfielder Lili Jones, goalkeeper Del Morgan, captain Keren Allen, full-back Phoebe Davies, winger Carra Jones, and striker Ava Suckley. Former England international Carly Telford, who has previously played for Chelsea and San Diego, joins the team as a veteran.
