Welsh side Wrexham have found themselves embroiled in a spat with their League Two rivals. Lancashire-based Accrington Stanley made news last night after they raised the ticket prices by $6.2 for the upcoming game against the Red Dragons. Their actions did not sit down well with many fans who voiced their displeasure at the club’s actions. Wrexham in return took to X to make a big statement regarding their ticket prices, which led to a strong response from Accrington Stanley’s chairman.

Meanwhile, Wrexham will hope to move past the drama and focus on the upcoming game. The side is currently placed second in the League Two standings with 33 points. A win will help the side maintain their position in the top three places, helping them secure automatic promotion at the end of the season.

Lancashire-based Accrington Stanley might have bitten more than the club can chew. The side recently hiked the prices for their game against Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham for both sets of fans. Wrexham tried to poke fun at the side as they informed fans that they would be decreasing ticket prices for their upcoming game by $6.2, the same as the hike announced by their rivals.

Wrexham in their tweet stated, “In response to Accrington Stanley’s decision to increase the matchday price by £5 from that previously charged at Wham Stadium for league games this season, we have decided to reduce the price of matchday tickets by £5 for the return game at the STōK Cae Ras on 02/03/2024.”

However, the club’s statement annoyed Accrington Stanley’s chairman Andy Holt, who took to his official X handle to slam the club. “When costs are already high @Wrexham_AFC, the last thing football needs is stupid mistimed statements. It’s surprising how stupid given a former CEO of @EFL is employed by you. Let’s have a great day for all fans safely, whatever the outcome on the pitch.”

Despite the drama between the two sides, Wrexham’s focus should be on their upcoming game. The side is touted as a strong contender to win the game and a loss will derail the momentum built by the side.

Ryan Reyolds’ Red Dragons looking to secure automatic promotion

The Red Dragons are currently placed second on the points table behind Stockport. The side with a win over Accrington Stanley will maintain their second place on the standings with 36 points to their name in 18 games.

Wrexham have been unbeaten in League Two in their last five games and will hope to continue their winning streak.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have outlined that the team would love to bag consecutive promotions. If the team can continue to deliver in their upcoming games and manage to hold their spot, the side will bag an automatic promotion to League One. Based on the existing EFL rules, the top three teams in the league bag direct promotion to the third tier.
