Things haven’t gone as planned for Erik ten Hag during his time at Manchester United. Controversies and bland results have marred the manager’s stint at the club. United could suffer yet another blow in the upcoming transfer market as Saudi Arabia has turned their attention to Raphael Varane. The nation is reportedly interested in acquiring the Frenchman and could shell out massive cash to pen a deal with the player.

The team’s performance has been subpar this season. Manchester United fans hoped the club would bounce back from their defeat against Manchester City. However, it seems like things are still the same for the Red Devils.

The Middle Eastern nation has emerged as the top destination for players in the final phase of their careers. Saudi Pro League sides have shelled out massive amounts of cash this season to secure some of the top names across Europe. According to reports, the nation already has their next target in mind, with the teams interested in signing Manchester United’s Raphael Varane.

The Frenchman joined United in 2021 but has failed to win anything notable with the side in the last two seasons. The player is reportedly frustrated with his situation at the club and could make a move to Saudi Arabia. While Varane was disinterested in a move to the Middle Eastern nation this summer, things have changed in recent months.

The defender is allegedly willing to join Saudi Arabia if he is provided with the right deal. Varane currently makes $420,000 a week at Manchester United and would need a pretty convincing offer to join the SPL. However, recent months have shown that Saudi sides have a fat checkbook for transfers, and doubling Varane’s salary would not be a big deal.

United is going through a rough phase lately. Manchester City humiliated the side during the Manchester derby last week, losing 3-0. Erik ten Hag and his men were hoping for a big win as they visited Craven Cottage tonight but made a narrow escape thanks to a late winner.

A lackluster Manchester United edge past Fulham

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United somehow repelled the challenge posed by Fulham in their recent encounter. While the side was the top contender to bag the win and move up the table, the team played a bland game and was able to only put two chances into the back of the net.

While Scott McTominay provided the team with the opening goal, his strike was ruled out by VAR. United following the disallowed goal tried their best to get past Fulham’s defense but were unsuccessful in all their attempts. However, injury time proved crucial for the team as Bruno Fernandez netted a last-minute clincher to help the team bag a win.

While the team will be happy with the win, there is still a lot to work on. Manchester United has been a shell of their former self this season and the side will look to turn this around during their upcoming games.
