82 Days After Serious Injury in Horse Accident, Lionel Messi’s Ex-Teammate Released From Hospital

Off-field injuries are something that could happen to anyone. Months ago, an incident involved an ex-teammate of Lionel Messi, who was recently released from the hospital. The soccer star spent a shocking 82 days in intensive care due to the injuries he sustained to his head. Finally, news regarding his discharge from the hospital has surely brought a smile to tons of faces.

The condition of the Spanish international is said to be improving, but it’s too early to determine his return date. Currently, the player is taking time to regain his strength and focus on his recovery.

It has been a challenging period for everyone at PSG. Both the fans and the teammates have shown solidarity with the player and his family. Sergio Rico, the PSG goalkeeper, was involved in a gruesome horse-related accident. Rico was in a coma for two and a half months before regaining consciousness, but the danger was far from over.

The PSG goalie had to undergo weeks of treatment before recently being discharged from the hospital. He spoke to Marca after his discharge, stating, “I feel quite well, even though the aneurysm is not completely under control. We need a few more months of calm to continue recovering at home. Thank God after such a long time.”

The accident happened while Rico was in Sevilla for a pilgrimage. The soccer star was trampled by a horse and sustained major neck and head injuries, which kept him in a coma for 19 days while spending 36 days in intensive care. The player will now take some time off to focus on his health and recovery. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Rico’s skills on the field for some time.

Rico appreciates the warm welcome and support he received while he was in the hospital from both PSG and Sevilla fans. He expressed immense gratitude towards his club and teammates and also lauded their gestures. His wife, Alba Silva, was in the stands when Sevilla fans paid tribute to Rico during their matches. She also spent a significant amount of time with him in the hospital.

The road to recovery has just begun, and Rico said he would like to return to normality with a calm attitude. He doesn’t want to exert too much pressure given his current condition.
