Gerard Pique has been the center of attention for a while now and the ex-Barcelona star just can’t seem to catch a break. The previous year, the Spaniard was at the center of a very public breakup with his former girlfriend Shakira. The situation was exacerbated by a diss track released by Shakira in January.

As things started to cool down, Gerard Pique has now been embroiled in controversy yet again. This time, the Spaniard was trolled mercilessly by Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas for his comments on the ongoing El Caso Negreira investigation.

For those who are not familiar with the case, El Caso Negreira is an ongoing investigation by Spanish authorities. It dives into allegations that Barcelona has been paying money to Enriquez Negreira, the Vice-President of the Technical Committee of Referees from the 2016-2018 period.

Madrid legend trolls Gerard Pique

In a recent Twitch podcast, Pique talked about the case with Casillas and made some provocative comments. “Barça and Madrid have always been the most benefited (from referees),” Gerard Pique said. Casillas was quick to shut down Pique and slammed him for his comments.

“No no, one team (Barcelona) got to go 2 years without receiving a penalty against it, it’s incredible,” Casillas explained. It is clear that the Real Madrid legend believes Pique is only saying this because he is currently on the wrong side of the investigations. Pique has been struggling to catch a break lately, and it seems like the controversies surrounding him are never-ending.
