Ian Wright defends female commentator Eni Aluko over Richarlison statement
In a recent talk show, Eni Aluko, a former English women’s player, made certain comments regarding the goal record of Richarlison. Fans trolled the commentator on social media for it.
Aluko said while speaking on Richarlison, “He is the top scorer for Brazil of the last three years. He has got a great record of 19 goals in 40 appearances. You do a math that’s a one-goal a match.”

Fans were quick to point out the maths involved in the comment. They saw an opportunity to get some trolls in. The reactions to the tweet, although didn’t please Ian Wright and he came in support of Aluko over the criticism. Ian Wright, in his tweet, said, “I’ve made countless mistakes live on air. The replies to this are horrible. You man are so pressed by women in football that you take pure pleasure in this. Grow.”
Trolls are not new for soccer stars, whether active or retired, soccer pundits, commentators, and soccer managers. Fans are always ready and looking for the blunders to pounce on. Yes, there are certain pundits who make audacious predictions sometimes that go horribly wrong. They get instant criticism for that. The cycle keeps on going.
A glance at Ian Wright’s soccer career
Ian Wright, who played as a striker, is known for his goal-scoring exploits at Arsenal. He started his senior career at Crystal Palace in 1985 at 21. Wright made 277 appearances for Palace in all competitions, scoring 117 goals. Later he signed for Arsenal in the 1991-92 season.

Wright played for seven seasons at Arsenal and made 221 appearances in the Premier League for them scoring 128 goals. He won the Premier League title and FA Cup with Arsenal in his last season, 1997-98. He scored 239 goals in 501 appearances in first and second-division soccer while playing in England and Scotland.
