Last year, the NWSL had quite a competition. Each side gave their heart and soul to finish in the best spot. In the end, it was OL Reign who won the league. This year, too, they are looking to win the domestic tournament once again. Megan Rapinoe and Co. are looking quite ambitious to finish in the best place possible.
Rapinoe’s beloved fans are backing the 37-year-old to achieve greatness. Even her close family members, like, for instance, her own fiance, Sue Bird, will support her to achieve domestic success. However, it seems that aside from supporting her beloved’s domestic club, Bird is also buttressing her fiance’s rival club.

Sue Bird supports her fiancé’s rival team
Oftentimes, there have been circumstances where a family member exhibits support for a rival team. Rapinoe is also enduring a similar situation. Recently, Bird was seen supporting a rival team of her fiancé. Aside from the NWSL league, the women’s teams in the United States are also competing in the NWSL Challenge Cup.
All the sides, including Rapinoe’s OL Reign, are also playing their luck. However, it seems, Bird isn’t interested in that as she looks to support a rival team of her beloved. Recently, North Carolina Courage played to a draw against Gotham FC. Fans were backing their favorite sides, and so was Bird, who was on Gotham FC’s side.
Following the draw, the former WNBA star posted an Instagram story with a supportive message. “GOOOOALLLLLL & A POINT.” These words evidently show that the former basketball player is backing a rival team of her fiancé.

North Carolina took a lead in the first few minutes of the game with the courtesy of Mille Gejl. However, Gotham FC’s star Lynn Williams came to save the day as she clinched an equalizer, with 15 minutes remaining on the clock. Neither side could clinch a win, as both teams had to split the points. Bird must be thrilled to see such a match.
However, it was quite eyebrow-raising to see her supporting a rival team of Rapinoe. Moreover, Bird didn’t post anything in Reign’s support, as Rapinoe also played a match today. Speaking of OL Reign, the club suffered another stalemate with her club.

Megan Rapinoe suffers major upset in Challenge Cup
Rapinoe won’t be happy to see Bird support another club. However, this isn’t the only upset, as she suffered yet another stalemate. Laura Harvey’s side suffered a goalless draw against Angel City in the Challenge Cup. This is a very concerning result, as they recently came away with a shocking draw against Racing Louisville.

Reign was 2-0 down in the first half, but managed to make an emphatic comeback. A strike from Rapinoe and a late equalizer from Jordyn Huitema helped them clinch three points. This is their second draw over the weekend. It was not the result they were looking for. However, they’ll be looking to get back on the winning ways in the next fixture.
