Former agent hails ‘explosive’ Cristiano Ronaldo

During the CNID gala, Mendes recently spoke about his relationship with Ronaldo. As stated by the Portuguese newspaper Record, the agent had some kind words for them. “Cristiano will always be in my heart. He is a special player and person for me. If I thought, years ago, that I could have a player with half of his value, I would sign under.”

He said all the “Portuguese should be proud of having a player like him,” while continuously praising the striker. “I’ve always said it and I’ll say it again: he was and is the best in history, the best in the world, even compared to others.” Mendes defended CR7, saying it wasn’t only his “strength and work”, but also that he was “virtuous and explosive.”

The former agent termed Ronaldo as an “example for young people and did everything a great professional could do.” He said that even though people talked about Ronaldinho and Messi, the former Madrid man had everything. “They never thought about the process that led to him to be the best in history”, he added.

When asked about his move to Al Nassr, the agent refused to comment. “Cristiano is where he is. That’s life. He’s in Arabia and we should all be super grateful to Cristiano for everything he’s done for football and for Portugal. He’s Portugal’s greatest ambassador ever.” Indeed, both had a great impact on each other’s lives, but what was the reason for their separation?

Ronaldo’s decision to end his professional relationship with Mendes can be traced back to his time in Turin, where he started experiencing a rift. According to reports, the 38-year-old did not heed Jorge’s advice and later expressed his desire to leave the Red Devils in July.

Additionally, following his interview with Piers Morgan, Mendes warned Ronaldo not to burn bridges with the Premier League giants. Furthermore, he was disappointed with the agent, as he was unable to secure a deal with Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
