Pitch invasion by the fans in soccer is getting common nowadays. The rush of blood occasionally makes fans invade the pitch during or after the game. But sometimes the invader goes too far, while the other times the stewards quickly control them. One such incident from the Dutch League came to light recently.

The pitch invasion happened during the game between FC Groningen and SC Heerenveen at Euroborg Stadium. Groningen is in the relegation zone currently and is seven points off the safety with nine games to go. The invasion happened after the game where Heerenveen beat Groningen 2-0. They ordered the invader to do community service. But he did the unthinkable, drawing reactions from the fans.

Fans react to soccer pitch invader doing a weird thing

A soccer fan invaded the Euroborg pitch after Groningen lost. The stewards were quick to take the invader into custody. Meanwhile, the invader threatened the stewards while they took him off the pitch. They ordered him to fulfill cleaning duty and placed him in an isolation cell.

The invader did an unthinkable thing in the isolation cell. During his stay in the isolation cell, the invader wrote, “I’m treated like a dog,” with his feces. He later apologized to FC Groningen, its fans, and the community for his deeds. The public prosecutor recently ordered the person to do 70-hour community service with a fine of over 200 USD.

FC Groningen is seven points from safety with seven games to go. USMNT star Ricardo Pepi is in significant form for the relegation-threatened team and has notched ten goals so far in the Eredivisie this season. It will be interesting to see whether the striker on loan from the German side FC Augsburg will help the club to stay up.

It will take a massive effort from Groningen to stay up, as they are seven points away from safety. They will have to depend on other results, too. However, Pepi is making a name for himself by getting his goal-scoring form and making it to a USMNT roster recently. He scored three goals in two games for USMNT in the international break, helping them to reach the Nations League semifinal.
