He invests in various businesses and gets curious with innovative ideas. One such creation that came up in the sporting world is the sport called Padel Tennis. Most tennis players endorse the sport, and Ronaldo got on the bandwagon. Likewise, Serena Williams recommended the sport a few months back, showcasing her new racquets. With the US Open final done and dusted and Novak Djokovic claiming his title, Padel tennis is now the talk of the town!

Hence, having a minority stake in a company named SA, Ronaldo becomes an investor in the sport. He owns a minority stake in the company that will construct Padel courts in Portugal. Thus, it comes as tremendous news for the sport that continues to grow. Significantly, the game has risen in popularity, considering the addictive factor of it.

The Portuguese Padel Federation (FPP) announced the construction of Cidade do Padel by a company owned by Ronaldo. They would build the courts and facilities in the Jamor area, in the municipality of Oeiras. Cidade do Padel will be the headquarters of the sport in Portugal. They will construct 17 padel courts in a plot of land spanning around 15 thousand square meters. With an investment of up to $5,360,0000, the sport will boast top facilities in the country. 

Ricardo da Silva Oliveira, president of the Portuguese Padel Federation, applauded Cristiano Ronaldo for helping the sport to grow by stating, “It’s a dream and it is a great honor to be able to do it alongside the greatest figure in the history of world sports, Cristiano.” Ronaldo’s investment could attract eyeballs to the sport, with his remarkable fan following.

According to CNN Portugal, the FFP stated, “At stake is the most important infrastructure dedicated to Portuguese padel in the history of the sport, with the construction and creation of a complex that will involve an investment of more than five million euros, and which should be completed in the first half of 2025.”
