UFC Welterweight Champion Joins Usain Bolt Led Soccer Aid World XI Featuring Wrexham’s Ben Foster to Compete Against England in Charity Game

It’s time to mark the calendar for June. The Soccer Aid game is returning to England and will take place at the Theater of Dreams. Soccer Aid World XI will play England XI in an annual event that brings a host of superstar athletes together to raise funds for UNICEF. 

World XI lineup has gotten more fascinating, with UFC Champion joining the likes of Usain Bolt. The eight-time Olympic gold medalist will lead the World XI. The lineups are getting impressive, and it promises to be a game to remember for a noble cause. Let’s look at the rosters with the addition of the UFC Welterweight champion. 

Soccer Aid World XI gets one more superstar

Soccer Aid for UNICEF 2023 will take place at Old Trafford on June 11 this year. Many athletes, including soccer legends, have made them available to play in the one-off charity game. World XI, led by the former Jamaican sprinter, will play against England XI. Recently Soccer Aid announced another superstar addition to World XI. UFC Welterweight champion Leon Edwards teams up with Bolt and Ben Foster, amongst others.

Apart from Edwards, Bolt, and Foster, the team consists of Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos, AS Roma legend Francesco Totti, and former Manchester United superstar Nani. Former USWNT superstar Heather O’Reilly will also play for World XI. Another professional boxer, Tommy Fury, is also on the roster for the Bolt-led side. Soccer Aid World XI has famous entrepreneurs, comedians, and media personalities.

On the other hand, former Lioness star Jill Scott will lead England XI. Soccer legends like Paul Scholes, David James, Gary Neville, and Nicky Butt. Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere, former Premier League superstars Jermain Defoe and Gary Cahill will also take part in the charity game. 

Wrexham AFC’s Ben Foster will be playing in the charity game with a massive decision on his future in the air.

Wrexham offers a contract extension to Ben Foster

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds persuaded Foster to come out of retirement and join the Red Dragons on a short-term deal. He joined Wrexham until the end of the season. The former United goalkeeper made one of the most significant saves in the history of Wrexham that saw the club get a massive win over title rivals Notts County. The win proved crucial, and the club won the league.

Ryan Reynolds’ club recently shared an update on the contract situations of the players. They released 11 players. And as per the official communication, the club has tabled a contract extension offer for Foster. They are waiting for the player’s decision, and only time will tell whether Foster plays soccer next season.
