The USWNT received the sweetest gift before securing its fifth Olympic gold. It came from an artist named Will Cohen. He penned a touching yet hilarious anthem for the USWNT to wish them luck for the gold medal game against Brazil. It was wholesome, to say the least. Coach Emma Hayes, defender Naomi Girma, Mallory Swanson, and Trinity Rodman all got a shoutout in Cohen’s Team USA anthem. Now that the USA has earned the gold, the USWNT acknowledged Cohen’s efforts.

Team USA, USWNT, NWSL, and coach Emma Hayes collaborated on Instagram to share a video of the US team’s gold medal celebrations, featuring Will Cohen’s song. And it has become an instant fan favorite.

Indeed, winning an Olympic gold within just two months of coaching, especially with a young team in transition, is quite an achievement. Some remarkable effect, if you ask me. Meanwhile, coach Hayes did not forget to laud her predecessor, Vlatko Andonovski, for grooming a young USWNT squad before he left camp after the 2023 World Cup exit.

“Sound off-” Not everyone is a fan of Will Cohen’s superhit song.4 goals for Mal though. An innocent yet hardcore USWNT fan, it seems. However, Cohen came up with the song before the gold medal match in which Swanson scored her fourth. Swanson’s first three goals came in the group stage and she went goalless in the knockout stage. But when it mattered the most, she delivered a lethal blow.

“The song creator needs to have credit. This is a bad look,” Team USA’s Instagram profile takes the heat as it did not tag Cohen and credited him for the anthem. Anyhow, some users commented on the singer’s name under the post and gave him credit. Moreover, he shared on his Instagram story, the same video, which Team USA also posted on TikTok. He wrote, I can die happy.”
