Breakups are tough. Two people share love, invest time in each other, and then when things don’t work out, they’re forced to part ways. However, breakups often teach valuable life lessons and provide opportunities for growth. US Women’s National Team forward Trinity Rodman is no exception to this. As human as anyone else, she admits that her experience, though painful, ultimately ‘helped’ her a lot.
“Obviously, first relationships are always like kind of what is love?” began Trinity during her chat on the Call Her Daddy podcast. “What are we doing? I think then I was extremely insecure in myself and I kind of let the person walk all over me in a sense,” explained the Washington Spirit forward. Of course, it’s something that many would relate to.
Those who have experienced their first relationship are often clueless about how things work. This often leads to miscommunication and misunderstandings (and many other “misses”), ultimately resulting in a breakup. In fact, reflecting on it later in life can bring feelings of humiliation and regret for many. But not for Rodman; she prefers to cherish each and every moment of her life instead.

“I don’t regret any relationship. I think they’ve all helped me so much and I’m so cordial with like everyone that I’ve been with. But I put up with a lot because I didn’t have validation. So I feel like it’s I’ve done a 360 now, but I would say I was really insecure and let a lot of shit slide back then,” added the daughter of Dennis Rodman.

To address the insecurity, Trinity shared an interesting story about dating a guy who, as it turned out, had far more female best friends than he initially admitted. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only unusual aspect of their relationship—her ex was also, apparently, a close friend of her brother DJ. Despite everything, Trinity mentioned that she and her ex are still friends in the “weirdest way possible.”
“But I learned a lot of things, like, I’m not taking sh*t,” asserted the USWNT forward. They say healing is one of the most crucial aspects of a breakup. Clearly, Rodman also seems to have moved on quite seamlessly, dealing with things through a mature state of mind. No wonder she is currently in a happy one!
Trinity Rodman talks about how ‘confident’ she is in her current relationship
They say the best way to learn in life is through one’s mistakes. While Trinity doesn’t label her past relationships as regrets, they did help her understand how things work and recognize what went wrong on both her part and her partner’s end. Addressing how she is implementing the learnings in her current relationship with American football star Trinity Benson, Rodman admitted, “I’m so confident and I’m so happy that now I’m like too reliant on this relationship.”
