Ryan Reynolds made a tweet a few hours ago to create suspense in the minds of the Wrexham fans. He tweeted an image with ‘Wrexham United’ typed in it. The cryptic tweet garnered the attention of the fans, but not in the way Reynolds thought. The fans were confused about whether it was about the friendly to be played against Manchester United next month.

However, some fans speculated that the duo intends to change the club’s name. Club owners released a video to clear all the doubts, making a sponsorship announcement. In the initial part of the video, they accepted the mistake regarding the tweet. McElhenney started, “That tweet needs an explanation.” Reynolds responded, “It should have read Wrexham and United.”

The duo soon followed the crucial announcement. “Wrexham is going to be sponsored by United Airlines. It’s the front of the shirt, which is super exciting. We just really wanted to share this,” Reynolds said. The duo apologized for the confusion created by the tweet. They also responded to the speculations of changing the club’s name.

“We will not now, nor will we ever change the name of the club,” McElhenney said. Reynolds followed suit, “We would never do that.” However, the duo encouraged the fans and the city to get excited about their new shirt sponsor, United Airlines. It seems the Red Dragons want to go into the new league with new sponsors.

United Airlines will be the third sponsor the club has landed in a few weeks. They replaced Aviation Gin as their training kit sponsor with Betty Buzz, owned by Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively. The Red Dragons also got a sponsor in SToK for the oldest international stadium, Racecourse Ground.

Their home stadium will now be known as STok Racecourse Ground next season. It’s a significant start for the club going into next season, with landing three new sponsors. They will now focus on the upcoming transfer window to upgrade the squad ahead of League Two season.
