The race for the 2023–24 Premier League title continues to heat up. Arsenal and Liverpool remain adamant about thwarting Manchester City’s bid for a potential sixth championship under Pep Guardiola. While the stakes are high for either side this time to lift the trophy, Trent Alexander-Arnold has heaped praise on City for not being ‘vulnerable‘ in the title race, despite previously taking a jibe at Erling Haaland and Co.

In an interview with Sky Sports Premier League, the England international was questioned about whether the Sky Blues’ past experience will help them win the Premier League title despite rallying efforts from both Arsenal and Liverpool. While acknowledging how both clubs have suffered the wrath of the Manchester side, he said, “When you get into a title race with City, when it gets to the turn of the year, they are borderline perfect and you can’t really slip up and make mistakes.”

Losing points means giving City an ‘upper hand,‘ since the reigning champions ‘don’t blink in those moments,’ making it difficult for other contenders. “They don’t seem vulnerable; they don’t seem like they’re going to drop points. It’s like a well machine, it’s just like it’s what they do. They click and there’s no stopping them,” added Trent. The right-back further added that giving City an advantage at this point would mean directly handing them over the title on a silver platter.

“All we can do is just be in a position to capitalize and hope that somebody does us a favor and get our goal difference up,” added the 25-year-old. Clearly, these claims are enough to suggest that Trent is concerned about not bottling the race against Guardiola’s side. This acknowledgment of him is opposite to how he ignited a beef with Erling Haaland with his bold claim.

Trent Alexander-Arnold took a U-turn after previously igniting a war of words with Erling Haaland and Manchester City

Weeks ago, Trent Alexander-Arnold made the headlines for criticizing Manchester City. He stated that although the Sky Blues have accumulated more titles and experienced greater success, the trophies Liverpool has won hold greater significance for them and their fanbase, particularly when considering the financial situations of both clubs. This remark didn’t sit well with Erling Haaland, who cheekily responded by highlighting his own achievement of winning a treble within a year, suggesting that Alexander-Arnold may not be familiar with such success.

Notably, Trent had taken aim at City when Liverpool was leading the league. However, the tables have turned, with both Liverpool and Arsenal now level with 74 points, while City trails just one point behind. With only the Carabao Cup in their trophy cabinet and an early exit from the Europa League, their sole focus lies on the PL. Similarly, City, having exited the Champions League last week, now have their sights set on the league title and the FA Cup final. It remains to be seen if Liverpool and Arsenal can prevent Manchester City from clinching yet another Premier League title.
