Argentina and Brazil were set to face each other in a World Cup qualifier match. While the excitement grew among the fans for the much-anticipated match, these emotions suddenly turned into rage. Shockingly, the game that was set to kick off experienced a strange halt. Circumstances forced Lionel Messi and his teammates to walk off the pitch due to an aggressive fight between fans even after the police intervened. Heated scenes in Rio de Janeiro!

As of now, due to the altercation, the match is yet to start between the two classic South American teams.

Argentina vs. Brazil has suffered a major hiccup, as the match has sadly been delayed. This happened after a violent altercation took place between the passionate supporters from both countries. The situation became so bad that it even forced the playing XI of both sides to momentarily leave the soccer pitch. The chaos seemed to have begun after a group of Argentina supporters was targeted by Brazilian police at the Maracana stadium.

The Argentina supporters stood behind the goal and got into a major fight with the rival fans. In an attempt to stop the fight, the police intervened with batons during Brazil’s national anthem. Reportedly, one fan started bleeding from his head. Additionally, after witnessing these scenes, both teams even crossed the advertisement boards to calm down the situation.

But as things got out of hand, the Argentina team left the pitch. Furthermore, enraged with what happened to the Argentina supporters in the stands, Lionel Messi took the squad off the pitch inside the locker room by saying, “We’re leaving. We can’t play in these circumstances.” Notably, the problem was caused by the near-closeness of both fan bases, which led to aggressive behavior.

Be that as it may, it is quite a grave situation. It remains to be seen when the match will restart. This is Lionel Messi’s second brawl in the past few days, as earlier he was infuriated by the conflict between the Argentinian and Uruguayan players.

During Argentina’s 2-0 loss against Uruguay, a confrontation broke out between the players after Manuel Ugarte made some gestures directed at Rodrigo De Paul and Enzo Fernandez. Lionel Messi unexpectedly involved himself, pushing Uruguayan defender Mathias Olivera during a feisty altercation with De Paul.

While addressing the situation post-match, the soccer icon said, “I prefer not to say what I think about some gestures, young people have to learn to respect their elders.” He acknowledged that the game would be undoubtedly intense, but he stressed that the younger players have to learn a little about showing respect.
