While MLS is on full speed, fans yesterday got a piece of heartbreaking news from a third-tier soccer club, backed by Jamie Vardy. Other clubs are getting ready for the eventual kickoff of the next season of this incredible new league. Meanwhile, one club is on the brink of total collapse and might not exist anymore just into the maiden season of MLS NEXT Pro.

There are no announcements yet the from the governing body for the starting, ending, and fixture of the upcoming season. It may now take a little longer as they have to keep in mind the one club less than normal.

According to experts, there are a lot of chances for the club to collapse. It is unclear yet whether they are going to let the club run out or they are going to find funding for next season sitting this one out. No matter what the situation is, the league this season will see one club less and they must be scrambling for a plan to react to this development.

The statement from Rochester Club says, “It is with a heavy heart and a great sense of disappointment that we share with you Rochester NY Football Club will not participate in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season. This decision involved a great deal of input from many stakeholders, including MLS NEXT Pro, and was not one we arrived at lightly.

Our fans turned out in great numbers in 2022, cheered loudly, and were as impassioned as the players themselves. Most recently, we were in advanced discussions with an ownership group to acquire a majority interest in RNYFC. However, the purchasing group decided not to proceed earlier this week as we were moving too close. This left us with no time and no choice but to decline to field a team in 2023.

The fallen-out deal has put the future of clubs and its owners in jeopardy. Out of all names, the most known in that group is Leicester City FC forward Jamie Vardy. He was a minority owner in that group. The plan was to shift him to an advisory position and bring in a new major investor. According to their statement, the deal fell apart and now it is impossible for them to build up. Only time will answer about the future of the Rochester, New York FC in the MLS NEXT Pro league.
