Wrexham AFC’s incredible Welsh Cup record
The success achieved in the Welsh Cup is something extraordinary. Winning 23 trophies is a record for the competition. Moreover, they finished runners-up in the prestigious cup competition 22 times. Hence, Wrexham AFC is arguably the finest soccer side to grace the competition.
The second team with the most cup victories is Cardiff City managing 22 cup victories. After that comes Swansea, with 10 cup victories. They will hold the 2023 Welsh Cup finals on 30th April. Despite their record, Wrexham does not compete in the Welsh Cup now.
Notably, UEFA ruled Wrexham out of the competition because they participated in the English football pyramid. According to BBC, only teams who compete in the Welsh football pyramid would get a chance to play in the cup. Thus, to see Wrexham back in the Welsh Cup would not happen unless the rules are changed.
Wrexham’s all-time attendees’ record
The all-time record for Wrexham FC attendees record is 34445 against Manchester United, back on 26/01/1957. The attendances are much lesser compared to the older days as there are restrictions in place. In the current 2022/23 seasons, the soccer club welcomed 179,158 fans in 18 matches with an average of 9953. Fans are invested in the club more than ever.
The attendance record has increased every season since Ryan and Rob took over the reins in 2020. During the 2019/20 seasons, the club averaged 73,043 fans in 18 games with an attendees’ average of 4,058. There is a significant rise in the number of attendees to the club.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s iconic takeover of the football club
The purchase of the club happened in November 2020. Before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, both actors joined hands to buy the soccer club. Since then, they have transformed the club to perfection. From the branding to the TV show, ‘Welcome to Wrexham,’ the club’s exposure is at an all-time high.
The duo paid $2.5 million to purchase the club. It needed a lot of work both on and off the pitch. In the previous season, the club reached the playoffs, and the work done is commendable. They have big money sponsors in TikTok and boast various facilities which elevate them to the top of the soccer charts.

Record transfer to date
Soon after the duo took over the club, they started spending money. The club broke the transfer record fee by signing Ollie Palmer in a club-record deal of $366,480. The record transfer broke the previous record held by Wrexham when the club signed Jones back in 1978. They paid $256,567 that year. Palmer, in the meantime, scored a goal every 117 minutes and proved to be a worthwhile signing.
