All sports fans just love it when a celebrity talks about their favorite club. Nowadays, quite a few celebrities are also diversifying their investments in the sports universe, especially in soccer. However, Hollywood veteran Hugh Jackman recently put forward a different kind of challenge against Ryan Reynolds. The fans felt surprised and baffled at his comments, but still saw the funny side of it. The Hollywood veteran is becoming an interesting point of discussion in the soccer universe.

His recent comments against Reynolds have just fueled the hopes of a potential surprise investment in a soccer team.

Hugh Jackman wants to beat Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC

The BBC recently asked the Wolverine star if he’d be interested in a soccer franchise. However, his answers to the same weren’t very clear. However, Hugh Jackman did seem excited when he spoke about Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC. He revealed that quite a few clubs from the lower leagues of English soccer have tried to get in touch with him.

Jackman told the BBC, “I will admit to you that when Ryan bought that team, I did get more than one offer from rivals to that team for £1, to come in as an co-owners. And it did seriously tempt me”.

However, the Hollywood star then shocked the soccer fanbase with his next few words. He surprisingly quoted, “I’ve decided to go one step further. I’m actually going to try out for the team. So, Delia Smith, Stephen Fry, I’m coming to try out.” He wittingly continued, “I think if I really want to stick it to Ryan Reynolds, then, if Wrexham get to play Norwich, because obviously there a different level here, I think I would be best if I was heading in the winner”.

This isn’t the first time the two Hollywood stars have shared friendly banter with each other on social media. However, this takes nothing away from Reynolds’ actual fantastic financial investment in soccer.

In November 2020, two very popular actors from Hollywood declared their interest in Wrexham AFC. Those two stars were none other than Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The fans couldn’t fathom why the Hollywood duo would be interested in taking over the Welsh soccer side. However, it all seems to make sense now with hindsight. Ryan Reynolds has always been honest with his fanbase. In the beginning, he also admitted he didn’t know much about the sport.

But the soccer world has always appreciated his willingness to grow and learn. The Deadpool star has been present at some of the clubs’ most crucial games. His presence gives the Vanarama National League soccer side an additional boost to strive for promotion. Reynolds’ soccer club is currently eyeing promotion to League Two of the English soccer pyramid. The Canadian actor’s ultimate aim is to get his soccer club to the English Premier League one day.
