Inter Miami continues to struggle to find its footing. Moments ago, the Herons were held 1-1 at Chase Stadium by New York City. For the second time in a row, Tata Martino and Co. have failed to win in the absence of their star player, Lionel Messi. As the word of their recent result spreads around the town, it is stirring outrage among their faithful fandom.

Although the Florida-based club took the lead within 14 minutes through Luis Suarez’s strike, courtesy of Julian Gressel, the away side managed to make a comeback within 20 minutes. The second half gave both sides enough opportunities to take the lead; however, a draw seemed to be inevitable. Notably, a draw isn’t that bad for Miami in Messi’s absence when compared to their shocking 4-0 thrashing against the New York Red Bulls before the international break. The Argentinian star wasn’t fit enough to rescue his side, as he remains sidelined due to injury.

Messi, who has been absent since the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 Leg 2 against Nashville, is still recuperating from his right hamstring injury. Even though La Pulga was seen training before today’s MLS clash, Tata Martino wasn’t keen to rush his return. The challenges have increased for the David Beckham-owned club. Earlier, yet another star was added to their already lengthy injury list. Whatever the case may be, since winning the DC United game 1-3 in Messi’s absence, it’s another day for Miami to witness their struggle without their captain.

With this result, Inter Miami has dropped to second place in the Eastern Conference table with 11 points. They now trail Cincinnati by just one point, but they could slip further down the standings as other teams have yet to play their fixtures. In fact, the draw ignited frustration among Miami supporters.

Even after scoring the opening goal, fingers are now being raised at Luis Suarez, as the 36-year-old’s performance in today’s match has come into question.

With the match over, nothing can be done. Despite not being satisfied with the result, this fan looks optimistic for the next match.

Inter Miami is useless without Messi, as per this fan’s opinion. Fans hadn’t recovered from the previous loss against the New York Red Bulls, as they again produced an unsatisfying result.

Otherwise, failing to do so would make it more and more obvious that they will continue to struggle in the future if Messi isn’t there.
