“RIP” – Piers Morgan Joins Everton & Soccer Community in Mourning Tragic Death of Tennis Icon at Australian Open

The Tennis community was hit with saddening news amidst the ongoing Australian Open. Renowned journalist Mike Dickson, known for his work with the Daily Mail, unfortunately, passed away while covering the sport close to his heart. With fans around the world grieving for his loss, TV host Piers Morgan joined the soccer community in paying tribute to the late journalist. Dickson was present in Melbourne to cover the Australian Open before his tragic death.

Dickson made a name for himself, working for the Daily Mail in their cricket wing. However, the journalist then made the switch to tennis and has been alongside the media organization for the last thirty years, covering a sport close to his heart. His loss will surely leave a big void in the space with his work and inspiration amongst his colleagues.

English side Everton was amongst the first groups to respond to Dickson’s death. The team paid respects to the journalist on their social media handle with a heartwarming post. “Such sad news. Everyone at Everton sends our condolences to Mike’s family. He was a great man who achieved a lot in his career. RIP Mike.”

TV host Piers Morgan also joined the fray, commenting on Dickson’s passing. Morgan praised the late journalist in his message, stating, “So sorry to hear this. Mike was a terrific journalist. RIP.”

English side Tranmere Rovers also paid homage to the late journalist. Dickson was known for his drive towards the sport, with the journalist covering some of the biggest events during his time with the Daily Mail.

Athletic reporter Adam Crafton also paid tribute to his fellow journalist, sending his condolences to his Dickson’s family. “Sending love and support to all your family. Mike was a gentleman, an expert writer and reporter – and such a strong supporter of young colleagues. Very best wishes.”

Daily Mail correspondent Mike Keegan also responded to the news as he penned a heartfelt message for his former colleague. “So sorry for your loss. Mike was a giant of a journalist and, as a colleague, you could not ask for better. Always generous with his time, expertise, & wit. It was always a pleasure to be in his company. A great man who we will all miss desperately.”

Dickson’s death is a tragic loss for the media space with the fifty-nine-year-old amongst the top sports journalists in the world. However, while his passing is a tragic setback for the community, his family will be pleased to see different sporting communities united to offer their condolences to the iconic journalist.
