Dana White’s Hypocrisy Exposed in Latest UFC Deal After Hating on the “Least Talented Sport on Earth”, Soccer

Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship, announced a multi-year deal with La Liga to cross-promote their sports throughout the world. It is one of the important initiatives by the entities. La Liga is struggling to get viewership and the TV revenues are not as expected. The partnership will help La Liga to gain popularity across the world, especially in the USA.

Although UFC has announced the initiative with the soccer entity, the old video is going viral where its president is seen taking a dig at soccer. The video has bemused fans. They are wondering whether White really likes soccer or not.

Dana White is not a big fan of soccer?

The video that went viral made everyone think White was a hypocrite. He literally trolled the sports during the interview. The video shows that he is not a big fan of soccer.

White said, “Soccer. Whole another ball game. Can’t stand soccer. I think that it’s the least talented sport on Earth. There’s a reason three-year-olds can play soccer. You run around and kick a ball. Yeah, Landsburg said. You wouldn’t say that if you were in Brazil. I said, Dude, I say this in every country, every. When you’re playing a game where the net is this big, right? And the score is 3-1?”

The video came out at the wrong time. Not only because the deal went through but also because soccer’s biggest festival, the FIFA World Cup, is going on. Whatever is said, the deal is going to be the catalyst for the growth of both sports. La Liga is in the middle of a crisis with other leagues gaining popularity over the league.

La Liga clubs visit the US in the preseason to play friendlies. The soccer body was also considering playing some important games in the US. It illustrates the major target market for La Liga is the US and the deal is perfect for La Liga as UFC is famous with US audiences.

UFC-La Liga deal overview

As per the joint statement, the deal will focus on cross-promoting both sports across the world. It will include various initiatives like social media engagement, on-site coverages at events, and players’ participation, to name a few. The partnership was initiated when UFC fighters were present at the La Liga game between Valencia and Atletico Madrid. Fighters Brandon Moreno and Ilia Topuria were the ones present at the game.

Both entities have formulated a step-by-step plan for how the cross-sports promotion will go through. The major focus will be on social media engagements and player involvement. The deal may be the beginning of future initiatives where cross-sports entities will come together to promote their respective sports to the fans.
