The success of Ryan Reynolds with Wrexham has been truly remarkable, as he finally led the Welsh side to promotion. His success story is even enticing other celebrities and renowned stars to get a soccer team of their own and lead it to glory.

It seems Reynolds’ impact is boundless, as he has tempted the former WWE superstar, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, to also get a soccer cub of his own. Earlier, both of them were tussling for the NHL’s Ottawa Senators, but that was unsuccessful. However, it seems he’s once again looking to enter Ryan Reynolds’ territory.

According to Echo, Johnson is now looking to enter Deadpool star’s territory. The actor can be a part of the future developments of the National League side, Southend United. The Rock will help the fifth division side shoot a documentary like Reynolds’ ‘Welcome to Wrexham.’

This comes after a group of local businessmen, including Simon Jackson and Kristofer Tremains from Kimura Capital, as well as members from Integral Sports Management, are currently engaged in advanced discussions with Ron Martin, the chairman of the Shrimpers. During the process, they also contacted Johnson and his production company, Seven Bucks Productions. The bid is also said to be joined by actor Ray Winston, a co-founder of ISM.

Reports suggest that the group, in collaboration with the former WWE superstar’s production company, wants to create a documentary about the National League club if the takeover is finalized. Current owner Martin is struggling to find his way with the club and has put it up for sale in March. Office staff members have yet to receive their salaries for the months of March and April.

Additionally, the club has been under a transfer embargo since September. They owe outstanding debts to HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs). Recently, the club managed to avoid winding up proceedings, but they must settle their remaining tax debt of £250,000 by July 12. Hence, the arrival of Johnson and Wonston may help the club in all ways. However, he’ll be looking to avoid hiccups in his takeover, as he recently suffered a billion-dollar heartbreak.

After enduring major success with Wrexham, Reynolds was also looking to expand his empire by buying another sports franchise. The Canadian was eager to get his hands on the NHL’s Ottawa Senators. His pursuit of the team tempted Johnson to get into the bidding race. Unfortunately, even after bidding over a billion dollars, neither of them could get their hands on the team.

This led them to drop out of the race for the Senators. Their presence in the bidding process also enticed famous singers like The Weeknd and Snoop Dogg. But it seems Johnson has moved on from the Senators. Now, he’ll be looking to be a part of the future developments of a soccer club. Either way, let us know your thoughts about this in the comments.
