Post his departure, the club had a horrible start to the season under Ronald Koeman. As a result, the club sacked him and signed their former player, legendary Spanish midfielder, Xavi.

Recently, Messi spoke about his former teammate’s appointment in an interview for Marca. He showed what hopes he had for Xavi and was optimistic about his performance.

“I’m sure Xavi will help Barcelona. They’ll improve thanks to him – he’s a manager who knows how to proceed in these situations, he knows Barça so well. It’s a great appointment,” he said.
