Sergio Aguero is one of the best strikers in the history of the Premier League and his time at Manchester City will never be forgotten, given all that he achieved in England. The Argentinian forward is only 33 and but has been forced to retire after an unfortunate heart condition won’t allow him to play football ever again.

Tributes flew in from around the globe as both friends, teammates, and even his rivals showed their support for one of football’s finest.

Aguero’s ex-teammates from Manchester City thank him

The Argentinian forward is known for being the man who created the most iconic moment in Premier League history. He scored the winner for Manchester City in the last match of the 2011-12 season, ensuring that City won the title on goal difference in stoppage time.

His teammates were thankful to him for his contributions over the years, and players like Vincent Kompany, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane and Phil Foden, all said a few words of appreciation for Aguero.

Foden and Kompany talked about their friendship with Aguero while recognizing him as a Manchester City phenomenon. Meanwhile, Foden thanked Aguero for giving him the honor of sharing the dressing room with him.

Even Manchester City’s former manager, Roberto Mancini, who won the league with City courtesy of Aguero’s winner, had a few things to say about the maestro. He shared a video of him celebrating Aguero’s winner for City against Queens Park Rangers, reminding everyone of his untarnished legacy.

Aguero’s last goal in his career came for FC Barcelona against Real Madrid. He made an impact on the match and couldn’t help save his team from defeat. Notably, Real’s David Alaba also wished Aguero a speedy and full recovery and the best for his future.

Meanwhile, other legends of the sport like Premier League top-scorer Alan Shearer and FC Bayern Munich legend Franck Ribery also congratulated Aguero for his fantastic career.
