Steven Gerrard bashes Cristiano Ronaldo moving back to United
Ever since the Portuguese’s return to Manchester, fans can’t wait to see Ronaldo. Given his incredible scoring repertoire, many United fans are hoping that CR7 is the answer for the team and can help them win multiple trophies.
Rangers manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard certainly doesn’t think so. In a recent interview, Gerrard said that Ronaldo won’t have the same impact he did in his first stint. “I think Cristiano Ronaldo will not make the same impact to the Premier league as he did in the past.”

“I think he wanted to move away from Juventus to get the media headlines back to him. This is because all the eyes were on Messi since the day he won Copa America and moving to Paris Saint-Germain. It’s just a marketing strategy from him and his agent because they know once he is off the picture, it will also affect his Ballon d’Or chances.”
This is certainly a pretty bold statement that Gerrard makes against the Portuguese. While some fans and ex-players might have a similar perspective, things couldn’t be more different.

Ronaldo might have secured his move away from Juventus this summer, there were multiple reports that the 5-time Ballon D’or was keen on a move away from Turin last season. But given his astronomical wages and Juve’s incredible transfer demands, a move away from the club failed to materialize.
