Lionel Messi has proven that he is among the greatest players in the history of the sport. He has won every single trophy at club level, and his individual accomplishments speak for themselves. However, he hasn’t had the same level of success with Argentina.

He did win the Copa America for the first time last year, and the only thing missing from his trophy cabinet is the World Cup. Argentina will get a chance to rectify that this year when the World Cup in Qatar comes around.

Given that Messi will be 35 when he’ll go to Qatar, this might just be his last World Cup. It would be really sad for him to end his career without winning the biggest trophy of them all, so it’ll be interesting to see what he can accomplish there.

Will Lionel Messi retire after the World Cup?

At least he’ll have the full support of his international teammates. Argentina has a good squad with players like Paulo Dybala, Angel di Maria, and Cristian Romero. They can surely go on a deep run in the tournament.

Moreover, Messi’s PSG teammate Leandro Paredes would find his place in the squad. The midfielder spoke about the World Cup in an interview and revealed that he wants to win the World Cup for Lionel Messi more than himself.
