Chelsea Football Club has suffered pretty badly because of the ongoing European conflict. After the UK Government placed sanctions on Roman Abramovich, Chelsea might find themselves in the middle of a huge financial crisis.

And this could also affect the players of Chelsea Football Club. Reports claim that the players have contacted their lawyers to find out about the avenues available to them in case this financial crisis continues.

Recently, Barclays froze the club’s bank accounts. And according to a report by The Telegraph, this gave rise to concerns of delayed wages among Chelsea’s superstars. The government has applied several strict regulations on the European Champions.

As per these regulations, Chelsea are restricted from signing players and also renewing existing players’ contracts. If this remains the case, then these regulations will have a massive impact on Chelsea’s games next season, if not this season.

Is Chelsea in trouble for next season?

As things stand, Chelsea might be in big trouble if they cannot renew the contracts of some of their key players. The Blues’ defense is regarded as one of the best defensive units in the world currently. But Antonio Rudiger, César Azpilicueta, and Andreas Christensen could leave the present European Champions after this season.

The three Chelsea defenders run out of contract this summer. Christensen and Azpilicueta have attracted interest from FC Barcelona. And recently, there have also been rumors about Rudiger being on Manchester United’s radar.

However, Chelsea still might have superstars like Ben Chilwell, Reece James, and the experienced Thiago Silva. But Thomas Tuchel will definitely miss the trio of Rudiger, Azpilicueta, and Christensen.

Silva, Christensen, and Rudiger have often played in the central defense and formed a strong partnership among them. But if both Rudiger and Christensen leave in the summer, someone else will have to partner with Thiago Silva in defense.

Also, if United signs Rudiger, this will further strengthen their defensive unit, which could also be a worry for Thomas Tuchel. Following a disappointing 2021/21 campaign, United will be desperate to strengthen their squad with some new additions.
