Chelsea Manager Uses a Bizarre Excuse for Crucial Player Mistake in Manchester United Game

Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea was the game of the weekend as it involved a lot of controversies. Both of the goals came from individual errors, especially the one Jadon Sancho scored for Manchester United. The other goal was scored by Jorginho from the penalty spot after Aaron Wan-Bissaka fouled Thiago Silva in the box.

However, that wasn’t Jorginho’s only contribution in the game, as it was his error that gifted United a goal. He couldn’t get a good first touch on a ball cleared from the Manchester United half and the ball fell to Jadon Sancho, who ran with it for a few yards before slotting it past Edouard Mendy.

Thomas Tuchel explains why Chelsea conceded.

Chelsea has conceded the fewest goals in the league and the London club won the UEFA Champions League because of their rock-solid defence. The club is still at the top of the Premier League table with thirty points from thirteen games.

Hence, the error was very unusual for the Ballon d’Or nominee and, Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel revealed in a post-match interview why it all happened.

It’s very unusual to see a mistake like this and to concede a goal like this for us in general, and especially with Jorgi. I think he misjudged the situation, and I think he was heavily disturbed by the lights. So he did not see the ball in the end,” Tuchel explained.

The bright lights of Stamford Bridge might’ve been at fault for his error, but regardless, it was a huge result for Manchester United who have been struggling lately.

United are sitting at 8th place in the table with 18 points from thirteen games, 12 points behind Tuchel’s Blues. They recently sacked their manager of three years, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a terrible run of form.

They have now appointed Ralf Rangnick as the interim manager for six months and it seems like a shrewd signing. The club will try and build positively from this result against Chelsea, and they might end up being in the top four by the end of the season.
