Christian Pulisic Set for a Battle With Raheem Sterling as His Chelsea Spot Comes Under Attack

Christian Pulisic is the best prospect to come out of the USA in the last few years. It’s only logical that he would become the youngest captain in the USMNT’s history, and prove his worth for the team time and again. However, the American forward has had his struggles at Chelsea.
Since joining the club in 2019, Pulisic hasn’t nailed down a spot in the club’s starting eleven. Injuries and bad form have plagued the winger, while manager Thomas Tuchel has routinely played Timo Werner in Pulisic’s place. It didn’t look like Pulisic had a future at Chelsea, and the winger was linked with a move to several clubs.
However, nothing concrete materialized, and he’ll stay with the Blues for the next six months.

Christian Pulisic is excited to play with Raheem Sterling
His problems have only increased though, as Chelsea signed Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling this summer. Sterling plays on the left-wing, Pulisic’s primary position in the team. Hence, game time would be harder to come by for the USMNT captain.
However, in an interview with ESPN, Pulisic revealed that he’s really excited about the arrival of Sterling, and welcomes the competition that he provides.

“It doesn’t change a whole lot, I’m still going to have to play hard and earn my position, just like I did before, nothing crazy has changed. This is Chelsea, this is what you signed up for, this is the kind of club it is with the calibre of players that we have,” Pulisic said.
