The transfer saga surrounding Paris Saint Germain star, Kylian Mbappe, gets more twisted by the day. The forward has been linked with a move away from PSG for two years now, and it seems like that will finally materialize in the summer transfer window.

Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires in June this year, and any club wanting to sign him will be able to do so for free. The forward has been linked with Real Madrid ever since he was in AS Monaco’s academy, but according to a few reports, FC Barcelona now want to sign him.

The financial part of the transfer might have worked out for them if only Mbappe’s wages weren’t as high as they would be. Real Madrid are willing to offer Mbappe a million euros per week, while Barca’s players are still taking wage cuts to help keep the club functioning.

Real Madrid and the arrival of Kylian Mbappe

The chances of Mbappe going to Barcelona are almost non-existent, as the French World-cup winner has been a fan of the Los Blancos ever since he was a child. Madrid even bid for him in the summer transfer window of 2021, but PSG rejected the mammoth 200 million euro bid.

Moreover, Madrid’s million-euro offer to Mbappe was upped by Paris Saint Germain offering Mbappe a blank cheque, but the Frenchman turned it down. Everything points towards Mbappe joining the Spanish club in the summer, and he might not be the only superstar to do so.

Borussia Dortmund superstar, Erling Haaland, has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid. Former Madrid star Martin Odegaard revealed that Haaland had asked him about his time at the Los Blancos as the two of them play together for Norway.

However, he also added that it was nothing special and just some small talk between two good friends.

We are good friends so we talk about lots of things, like when I was [at Real Madrid]. So, yeah, we talked about [Real Madrid], but it’s not anything special,” he said.
