Manchester United fans must be very confused this season after the kind of performances their club has put in. On some days, everything goes well and United look like world-beaters; but on other days, nothing can seemingly go right.

A perfect example of this can be United’s last two games in the Premier League. They were facing league-leaders Manchester City in a must-win game for the club last Sunday and put in one of the worst performances of the season so far.

However, their next match was against Tottenham Hotspur and the club won the match by a score of 3-2. It wasn’t the best defensive showing from them, giving away a penalty and an own goal by Harry Maguire, but a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick dazzled everyone.

Ralf Rangnick speaks about the chances of United winning the UCL

Looking at Ronaldo’s incredible performance in the match, fans touted the possibility of United winning the UCL. After all, Ronaldo has won the UCL with his performances for Real Madrid before. However, Manchester United’s manager, Ralf Rangnick, isn’t convinced of anything.

The German manager was asked about the club’s chances of winning the UCL, and he didn’t hold back. He referenced the club’s performance against City and added that it felt like that was the worst team he had ever coached.

On Sunday, I almost felt like we were at a funeral, that it’s already dead. I felt like its the worst team I have ever coached. And after the 3-2 win against Tottenham, we’re discussing about our chances to win the Champions League,” Rangnick said.

Manchester United and their prospects in the UCL

Despite Rangnick’s doubts, the Manchester United faithful won’t lose their hopes. Ronaldo scoring a hat-trick just before a crucial UCL tie against Atletico Madrid could be a sign of good things to come for the club.

However, it could also be the false dawn that could be followed by Atletico knocking them out of the competition on Tuesday. No one knows which United will show up against the Spanish club, and the game will be a must-watch for all fans.
