Manchester United’s confusing start to the season is the gift that keeps on giving. The Reds have failed to live up to their potential in the Premier League and simultaneously have done well in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the knockout stages of the competition. However, things have gone from bad to worse and the Cristiano Ronaldo led-side’s latest league defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers has left United in seventh place in the league.

Touted as title contenders at the start of the season, the Red Devils are four points behind fourth-place Arsenal. Fingers are being pointed at the coaching staff and a few players, and even the signing of Ronaldo has been called into question.

As a result, other senior players like Edinson Cavani, and club captain Harry Maguire, are reportedly concerned about Ronaldo’s ‘undroppable presence’.

He added that he also felt like the team wasn’t playing together, another massive issue that needs addressing.

Us players, we’ve been here for a long time, we played at home, we know what it is like when we have the intensity, you can feel the motivation is there. But I think tonight we struggled. We didn’t – or I didn’t feel when I was on the pitch that we were all there together. We felt like we were struggling. It was tough,” Shaw said.
