Cristiano Ronaldo finally left Juventus after spending three years in the Italian top flight. His transfer to Manchester United was all over the headlines as the Portuguese returned to his former club after 12 years. He left United to join Real Madrid in a then world-record move in 2009.

However, this time around, his departure was not as glamourous. At 36, he is not the force he once was, and Manchester United are not the world-beaters that Real Madrid were, yet. Maybe signing Cristiano Ronaldo could change all of that.

Moreover, Juventus are in a spot of bother as they sacked their manager Andrea Pirlo last season. The club failed to win the Serie A last year and finished fourth, a very disappointing campaign for a team that won the previous nine editions of the competition.

Even winning the Serie A was not enough for Massimiliano Allegri as the coach retired in 2019, leaving Juventus. However, the manager was unhappy with Ronaldo, who was the club’s top scorer that season.

La Repubblica released a statement that Allegri made to the president of Juventus, Andrea Agnelli, when Allegri left the club. “Get rid of Ronaldo. He hinders the progress of the team and the club,” Allegri said reportedly.

Juventus re-signed Allegri again this season, and it’s no wonder that Ronaldo left the club for England. They have started Serie A in horrible fashion, too, after drawing to Udinese and losing to newly-promoted Empoli in the season’s first two games.

The Portuguese was in the form of his life in Italy as he had 127 goal contributions for “The Old Lady” in just 134 matches. He scored 101 goals during his stay and won the Serie A twice with the club, along with other domestic competitions.

However, Ronaldo couldn’t win Juventus the ever-so-elusive UEFA Champions League crown they have trying to win for years now. Hence, his time in Italy might not be a complete success, but it wasn’t a disaster either. Manchester United have a superstar on their hands. and they can do wonders with Ronaldo up top.
