Chelsea have had one of the hardest seasons in their recent history. Things were perfectly fine on the pitch for the Champions League winners. However, it was their off-pitch struggles that would have hurt Thomas Tuchel and his men a lot.

The club was put under a lot of sanctions and its owner, Roman Abramovich, was forced to sell the club he had owned since 2003. Chelsea wasn’t allowed to sign any new players or even negotiate with their current ones before they find a new owner.

Government approves Todd Boehly’s bid

Todd Boehly is an American businessman who is a part-owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers. The American had tried to buy Chelsea from Abramovich before, but the Russian billionaire had rejected his bid. However, this time around, Boehly submitted a ?4.25 billion bid to the English government, and the sale was approved.

Chelsea’s sale is now permitted and the Blues can begin functioning as a normal club again soon. They have lost quite a few players, as Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have both left for Spain. Fullbacks Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are also on their way out as Chelsea might need to sign an entirely new defense.

The players Thomas Tuchel would want at Chelsea

With that amount of money, Tuchel can get all of his transfer targets. One of the key players that Chelsea has been linked with a lot is Sevilla defender Jules Kounde. The French defender has been one of the best center-backs in La Liga and will love to play for Chelsea.

Chelsea have also been linked to players like Gleison Bremer and AC Milan star Alessio Romagnoli. They need to shore up their defense and fans can expect at least two or three new defenders to sign for the club in the summer.
