Chelsea were having a good year this time around after winning the UEFA Champions League in 2021, but it is all crumbling apart now. They have dropped several points in the league and now their biggest summer acquisition Romelu Lukaku is in the centre of a new controversy.

The Belgian striker had played for Chelsea before, and wanted to leave Inter Milan to come back to the club where he got his first Premier League start. Chelsea paid a whopping 100 million euros for their former player but the transfer hasn’t worked out well for anyone involved.

Lukaku has struggled for game time in Thomas Tuchel’s system at Chelsea and the Belgian has spoken out about his frustrations. He added that he isn’t happy at Chelsea but that he won’t give up.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was asked about Lukaku’s words and the German coach replied that he didn’t like it. He did want to give Lukaku the benefit of the doubt but added that the Belgian striker is a star and no matter what he said, it would garner a lot of attention.

The manager also revealed that he’ll have a conversation with Lukaku behind closed doors because he doesn’t see his player being unhappy at Chelsea. He also added that the Belgian’s words do not reflect in his actions every day in London.

We will talk with Lukaku openly behind closed doors. I am surprised because I don’t see him unhappy – the opposite. We here can take the time to try to understand what is going on with Romelu, it does not reflect the daily attitude,” Tuchel said.
