Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has enjoyed continued success in the Premier League under their manager Pep Guardiola. While their struggles to win the UEFA Champions League are well documented, they have had no trouble dominating the domestic competition in England.

They have one of the best squads in the world, with two or three great players in every position. That is, every position except strikers. City only has Gabriel Jesus as their recognised striker at the club and the Brazilian star has openly said that he prefers to play on the wing.

Other than him, City’s Spanish winger Ferran Torres has been utilized in the number nine role quite a few times, but that’s about to change now.

Pep Guardiola talks about Torres’s move to his former club

Ferran Torres has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona for quite some time now and the transfer has now reached its final stages. The Spanish winger will bolster the ranks at Guardiola’s old club, and the City manager confirmed the news.

Yes, Ferrán Torres to Barça is close. If you are not happy, you have to leave. We’re not a club like other teams when you want to leave CEO and the president say no,” Guardiola said as reported by football journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Pep wants Torres to be happy even if he leaves Manchester City

Guardiola also talked about the entire process and revealed that Torres told him that he wanted to leave. Guardiola contacted Txiki Begiristain, Manchester City’s director of football, and the two clubs made a deal. The Spanish manager revealed that he wants his players to be happy, even if it means that he has to let them go.

Ferrán is from Spain, Barcelona wants him, he said he wants to leave, I said, leave. I called Txiki, his agent makes a deal and he’s leaving. I want players to be happy,” Guardiola added.
