The life of a footballer can go wrong in a lot of ways. Injuries are one of the worst parts of being an athlete, and no one knows this more than Real Madrid forward, Eden Hazard. Surprisingly, his former manager, Jose Mourinho, had predicted his plight a few years ago.

Hazard got his dream move to Real Madrid in 2019 for a huge fee that reached over 100 million euros. Madrid fans were excited about the prospect of seeing Hazard as they had lost Cristiano Ronaldo a year ago and the last season had been a Trainwreck.

However, it all went wrong as the Belgian superstar came in overweight during the first preseason, and never really got going. He has struggled with one injury after the other and has only managed to play 47 matches for the club in 3 years.

Jose Mourinho predicted Hazard’s horrible run of injuries

Mourinho spoke about Eden Hazard in 2015, when he was the Chelsea FC manager. The Belgian forward was at the top of his game and was being fouled a lot of times in the Premier League. His Portuguese manager criticized the league’s referees then for not protecting Hazard well.

People must be in love with Eden Hazard. I think the way match after match, he is being punished by opponents and he is not being protected by the referees. Maybe one day we don’t have Eden Hazard,” Mourinho speculated.

Mourinho praises Eden Hazard’s physicality

Mourinho didn’t stop there and showed his exasperation about the fouls. However, he also complimented Hazard for his perseverance and his ability to get up. He added that Hazard was a strong person, but that it wouldn’t bode well with all of the fouls that he was taking.

There’s one, two, three, ten aggressive fouls, they kick and they kick, but the kid keeps resisting. Because he’s a fantastic kid, he’s strong physically, but I think this is also another problem,” the manager added.
