The Champions League final is finally here. Liverpool take on Real Madrid in a repeat of the final of the UCL in 2018, which the Los Blancos won. However, things are different this year. Liverpool have strengthened massively, while on the other hand, Madrid have not.

They had the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos in that all-conquering team, and while they are still one of the best teams in the world, it’s hard for them to be as good as they were. However, Liverpool took that final loss in their stride and brought Allison, who was key for them in winning the UCL the very next year.

Liverpool vs. Real Madrid features a new pitch

This year, the teams match up very evenly and there is very little to differentiate between the two clubs. Jurgen Klopp has won it all with this Liverpool team and would love to add another trophy to his cabinet.

However, he has some qualms about the pitch in Paris. The German manager spoke about the pitch ahead of the match and didn’t like the fact that the pitch doesn’t look perfect. However, he did add that he “didn’t want to moan” about it and that it would be the same for both teams.

Jurgen Klopp doesn’t like the idea of a new pitch

Klopp has had a history of blaming pitches before as he did blame Liverpool’s draw against West Brom on the pitch being too dry. This time around, he claimed that the pitch is not very well put together and that it wasn’t a good idea to change it.

You can see the lines where they put the pieces of the pitch [together], which is what we aren’t used to. That someone thought it was a good idea to bring the pitch the day before to the stadium is an interesting idea,” Klopp added.
