Earlier in the match, Andros Townsend scored Everton?s equalizer from a counter-attack that came from Manchester United?s own half. Many, including Ronaldo, felt that Luke Shaw should have done a better job in containing Townsend.

Many people criticized Shaw for giving acres of space to the Toffees player in the buildup of goal. If Luke Shaw would have fouled Townsend in the goal’s buildup, things might have been different. Recently, during a?conversation with BT Sport, United legend Rio Ferdinand, talked about the same.

Cristiano Ronaldo wanted Luke Shaw to make a tactical foul in the buildup to Everton’s equalizer

Speaking to BT Sport, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand revealed what Cristiano Ronaldo was telling his teammates. According to the former Manchester United defender, ‘Whatever means necessary’ was the instruction given by Ronaldo to his teammates to stop the Everton counterattack.

“Man United at that time, Cristiano says take him early in the play,” Rio Ferdinand told BT Sport. “The foreign teams are cute in those positions and counter-attacks with cheeky fouls would?ve stopped and prevented that. You can see him there, telling them ‘take him out, smash him.'”

Manchester United have assembled a great team this season. However, they are still not able to win games. Therefore, if the Red Devils want to win any silverware this season, they need to start performing right away.
