Jesse Lingard is one of the most popular footballers to come out of Manchester United in recent years. The club’s academy graduate might not have been their best player, but he was always loved by the club’s fanbase during his time with the club. Lingard finally left United this summer after his contract expired.

He did spend some time on loan with West Ham and was phenomenal at the club. However, it wasn’t enough for him to get a start at United as he made 21 appearances last season, most of them from the bench.

While clubs in Europe are also interested in him, Lingard has reportedly expressed a desire to play in the MLS. The 29-year-old is traveling to the USA to assess his options. According to a report from ESPN FC, several MLS clubs have prepared pitches for Lingard, as they would all love to have a player of his caliber and popularity.

The report went on to say that the two MLS sides have prepared “ground-breaking deals” for Lingard, as his stock is still pretty high in the transfer market. However, things weren’t so good for him just two years ago. It was his time with West Ham that changed everything.

Lingard and his links with West Ham

Lingard joined West Ham on loan in the January transfer window in 2021. The English forward was on fire and became one of the best players in the league with 9 goals in 16 games for the club. However, West Ham wasn’t able to sign the attacker on a permanent deal after talks with United didn’t work out.
