Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players of all time with his peak coming at Real Madrid. However, before joining the Los Blancos in 2009, Ronaldo had already won the Ballon d’Or at Manchester United. He moved to England from Sporting Lisbon as a young teenager and became the best player in the world in just a few years.

Currently playing for Manchester United again, Ronaldo has regressed a bit at the age of 37. However, he was still the club’s top scorer and was only behind Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min on the Premier League top scorer list.

As a result, the Reds would love to have him stay at the club as they try and pick up the pieces of last season.

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes knows that and played with Ronaldo with Portugal as well. Speaking in an interview, Fernandes revealed that he hopes that Ronaldo goes back to Sporting after his contract with United expires.

Fernandes joined United from Sporting Lisbon, a similar path to Ronaldo’s. He added that fans of the club wouldn’t want anything more.

However, the midfielder did add that Ronaldo would stay at Manchester United. The club would hate to lose Ronaldo to any rival club, and Fernandes revealed that he expects the superstar to show up to training on July 4th.

I expect to meet him on July 4 to train there, I’m not expecting anything more but each one takes care of their future. I don’t believe that the club is willing to lose an asset like Cristiano,” he added.
