Salah has been in the form of his life as he has been one of the best players in the world for Liverpool. However, things haven’t been the same for Egypt as the winger missed his penalty against Senegal in their qualifiers match. It was eerily similar to his penalty miss in the final of the AFCON tournament, which Senegal won on penalties.

It all ended in heartbreak for him and the fans in Egypt, but he isn’t the only one to miss out on the greatest stage in International football.

The Italian National Team joins Mohamed Salah

Italy surprised everyone last year when they went all the way to win the Euros. They had a fantastic team, and they were expected to be stronger contenders for the World Cup. However, things started going wrong when they failed to make it out of their World Cup Qualification group.

They were facing North Macedonia in a play-off match but lost after a late winner from the underdogs. As a result, several Italian stars like Jorginho, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Federico Chiesa are set to miss out on the tournament.

A few players like FC Barcelona star, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, have never played in the World Cup. His country, Gabon, has never qualified for the competition in their entire history and has a comparatively weaker team.

Other big misses would be the Swedish national team and their enigmatic superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Norway, another European country, will also be missing out on the competition. As a result, fans will have to wait four more years to see Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard in the World Cup.

Countries like Nigeria and Columbia also missed out on a spot, despite being fan favorites in the previous editions of the competition.
