After another demoralizing loss to Watford, Manchester United finally sacked their Norwegian manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after three years. His time at the club wasn’t all bad as the fans have a lot of memorable moments to remember from his tenure, but there’s some shocking news in store for all United fans.

In a club statement, Manchester United revealed that they are looking to appoint an interim manager for the rest of the season.

Michael Carrick will now take charge of the team for forthcoming games, while the club looks to appoint an interim manager to the end of the season,” the club statement said.

Samuel Luckhurst, the chief Manchester United writer for Manchester Evening News, revealed why it was “strange” that United are willing to write this season off.

It’s strange Manchester United are seemingly prepared to write off a season when there are 26 games left in the league and two left in the Champions League group stage. Additional confirmation they had no succession plan in place,” Luckhurst said in a tweet to his Twitter account.

It’s not like Manchester United has not been linked to any top managers, as they have been linked with Zinedine Zidane, Erik Ten Hag, Brendan Rodgers, Luis Enrique, and Mauricio Pochettino. Out of them, only Zidane is free from any club or national team and has been linked with the United job before.

However, the fact that United is not going after him and is looking to stay with an interim manager has shocked many fans.

The ineptitude of the Manchester United board.
