Manchester City lost to Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League after goals from Idrissa Gana Gueye and PSG’s new signing Lionel Messi. However, neither Messi nor Gueye caught everyone’s eye as PSG’s Marco Verratti was deemed the main man on Tuesday.

The Italian midfielder marshaled his midfield well and didn’t let City get a sniff of the ball. PSG kept the English Club at bay and performed admirably to further their chances of winning the UCL for the first time.

Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola spoke about Veratti in the post-match interviews and had some high praise for the player. When a reporter asked him about his playing style, Pep answered glowingly.

“I’m in love. He’s an exceptional player because when he’s under pressure, he’s calm enough to take one extra touch, and at that moment, create extra passes behind our midfield players. Yeah, I know the character, the personality that he has. He did it again, and I am happy he is back,” he revealed.

Pep Guardiola reveals why it was difficult for City to build chances.

The game was a learning curve for the English champions, who are looking for their first UCL title as well. Additionally, Guardiola explained that his foe, and PSG manager, Mauricio Pochettino’s tactics, got the better of him. However, many believe Pochettino simply has the better team at his disposal and the result was expected.
