Liverpool and Real Madrid’s journey to the final

With Cabello’s addition, the final would promise to be a highly entertaining affair. However, both Real Madrid and Liverpool have ensured that there was plenty of drama throughout the tournament.

Liverpool arrived at this stage relatively unscathed but faltered in the semi-final against Villareal. The Spanish club looked set to mount an upset after scoring two goals in the first half of their second-leg match, but Liverpool scored three in the second half to put the tie to bed.

On the other hand, Real Madrid have shown everyone why they have won the Champions League a record-breaking 13 times. The Los Blancos were on the brink of defeat in all three knockout stages before mounting an unlikely comeback and scraping through.
